Tuesday, 26 August 2008
I've got three new photo galleries today that are a bit of a departure from the norm around here. First up, I have a gallery of Olympus E-520 photos that I took last month at the Bank of the West Classic tennis tournament at Stanford University (which, as you may know, is one of my standard photo stops). Olympus is a sponsor of the US Open, so I was able to pick up my review camera and take some photos courtside with some nice...

While the press release makes it sound like a camera for teens (it can capture every "OMG moment"), the E1 sounds like it's a good value for just about everyone. And I like the choice in colors, too. Here are the details:

You can see what John thinks about this at this link. (or at least his “public reaction”)

Next, we have two new Stylus models: one "regular" and one "everything-proof". Both cameras (but especially the Stylus 1040) appear to be -- ahem -- "inspired" by Sony's T-series cameras, right down to the sliding lens cover. The Stylus 1050SW does have a pretty neat new "tap" feature that I'll mention below. Here are all the details:

Olympus EVOLT E-520 Review by DPReview
User Rating: / 0
Friday, 22 August 2008
Review (Summary): "The Olympus E-520 is a refreshed version of Olympus's upper-entry-level camera, the E-510. As such it's a slightly bulked-up E-420 with image stabilization, which makes it one of the most feature-packed and customizable cameras available for under £500/$800. It loses some of its sibling's compact chic but offers a bigger, longer-lasting battery and a more familiar grip shape to those people familiar with contemporary DSLRs
